Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECTS), also called coolant temperature sensor (CTS), measures the temperature of the vehicle's engine coolant and feeds this information back in the form of an electrical current to the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU then responds to a change in the temperature difference and readjusts the engines fuel injection, fuel blending and igniting timing. In the meanwhile, ECU will adjust the open and close of cooling fan to make sure the engine is running in the best temperature.
