Surface set diamond bits can greatly make up for the defects of impregnated diamond bits. Firstly, Surface Set Diamond Bits are regularly used for drilling relatively soft, abrasive, unconsolidated formations which usually can not be drilled by impregnated diamond bits effectively.Secondly, drilling for harder formations is also possible when the available rotational speed and bit loads are insufficient for utilizing impregnated diamond bits. Additionally, this diamond tool is also suitable for drilling broken formation rocks which cannot be cored.
