UK Pavilion at EXPO 2010

Special Building Projects: Customized LED Lights

The UK Pavilion at Expo 2010 is known as the Seed Cathedral which is a box, 15m high and 10m tall. From every surface protrude silvery hairs, consisting of over 60,000 identical rods of clear acrylic, 7.5m long, which extend through the walls and lift it into the air. All hairs come with a small colored LED light source at their tips. They swing in the air and form fancy colors and pictures on the facades. By day, the hairs can transmit light like optical fiber to light up the pavilion’s interior. By night, light sources inside each rod enable the building to emit fascinating light.
