Properties
1. Sodium formate is a white crystalline powder with a slight formic acid odor. It is a kind of organic compound with its density of 1.429g/cm3 and melting point of 253℃.
2. This product is easily soluble in water and glycerol. It is slightly soluble in ethanol, but not soluble in ether.
3. Sodium formate is a non-toxic and non-corrosive salt.
4. It is easily affected by dampness.
5. Reducibility allows this product to react with strong oxidants easily.
6. Our product is easily caked, which will not result in the changing of its characteristics.
Applications
1. Our product is commonly used to produce formic acid, oxalic acid, sodium dithionite, and dimethyl formamide.
2. In leather industry, it is utilized during the tanning process.
3. This product can also act as a catalyst or synthetic agent.
4. Additionally, it functions as a reducing agent in printing and dyeing industry.
5. In recent years, a large amount of sodium formate has been applicable to the coagulation of cement, as well as the preparation of low-toxic and environment-friendly drilling fluids.
