PVDF/ETFE Cast Film Extrusion Line

The PVDF and EFFE cast films produced by our cast film extrusion line belongs to a kind of fluoroplastic film extensively applied in various fields by virtue of preeminent properties as insulation and resistance to ultraviolet, heat, humidity and ageing. As containing fluorine, it likely produces thermal decomposition and corrodes the processing equipment and molds. Hence, its processing equipment and technology are different from that of the common thermoplastic.


Our PVDF and EFFE cast film extrusion line successfully developed through the adoption of special equipment and technology can produce fluoroplastic films via applying the EFTE copolymer and other chemical substances. With the specially-designed extruder and casting machine, the PVDF cast film produced by extrusion and tape casting methods can be applied to the solar battery back or used as the permeable film in water treatment and the protective film in outdoor buildings or as other functional films.


Features of Our Production Line
1. This cast film extrusion line comes with an extruder which is made of special high-temperature and corrosion resistant steel and ensures the stable extrusion of fluoroplastic.


2. Cooperating with many famous domestic universities, we specially design the structure of screw and die, and via specific molding and winding technologies, we have realized rational, industrialized and large-scale production of fluoroplastic products.


3. The complete set of machine is characterized by high-end configuration, practical and reasonable design, PLC touch screen control .The interlocking control makes the operation more safe and convenient.


Characteristics of PVDF and EFFE Films
1. The PVDF film produced by our cast film extrusion line is usually 20 to 40μm thick and its width can reach up to 2500mm. The working speed is 5-100m/minute. Films with other specifications can be custom-made.


2. EFTE film:
A. It is a remarkable substitute material in transparent building structure. Its self-cleaning surface features high stain resistance and easy cleaning, and usually most of the dirt will be cleared away by the rain.


B. It is a long-lasting product that is resistant to ageing and corrosion. Generally, its service life lasts for 25 to 35 years.


C. It has light weight and high fire rating, and it even will not drop when burning.


D. It comes with high light transmittance which can reach above 90%.


E. Due to the characteristics of environment protection and recoverability, the EFTE cast film can be completely recycled to produce other EFTE products.



Main Applications of PVDF and EFFE Films
1. PVDF Film Processing

So far, the PVDF film produced by our cast film extrusion line is mainly used as the back film of solar battery, which protects the battery plate of PV modules by virtue of reliable insulation, water-proof and ageing resistant performances.


The PET (polyester) substrate is laminated with the fluoropolymer films on both sides and consequently a three-layer structure is formed. The outer layer is T film and the core layer is P film. The EVA is used for gluing the T and P layers. The T film represents the PVF (polyvinyl fluoride) film whose thickness is about 37μm. It is the main layer used as the sealing material of solar battery, which is light-proof, weather-proof as well as ageing and ultraviolet resistant. The P film stands for the PET film, the thickness of which is usually about 250μm. Its main properties include water and gas barrier, insulation, dimensional stability, workability, tear resistance, etc.


The PVDF film produced by our cast film extrusion line is a substitute for the PVF film in the TPT and thereby a three-layer structure (PVDF/PET/PVDF) can also be obtained. The outer PVDF film, as the protective layer, is extremely outstanding in resistance to environmental corrosion. The PET film, as the core layer, features excellent insulating property. The three layers are tightly glued together via the EVA.


2. EFTE Film Processing
The EFTE film produced by our cast film extrusion line is a transparent film, the thickness of which is usually less than 0.20mm. It can be applied in the film structure for making air cushions. The earliest EFTE project was started 20 years ago and the most famous project should be the British Eden.


It is newly developed in recent years that adopting the EFTE film as the curtain wall or roofing materials. Having been used in more than 100 projects in the world, the EFTE film was applied as the roofing material of natatorium, the Water Cube, which is the main stadium in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is the largest project with film structure in the world. As the most advanced, environmental friendly and energy-saving film, the EFTE film manufactured by our cast film extrusion line is applied to the external structure of that project. The whole roof is comprised by 3000 pieces of air bags, covering an area of 110,000m2 and totally using 200 tons of EFTE materials. By this time, there are still no other companies who are capable of processing high-quality wide EFTE film.

After the 2008 Olympics Games, the usage of EFTE film increases in multiples, which boosts the fluoroplastic processing industry. Accordingly, our cast film extrusion line is extensively applied and serves for PVDF and EFFE cast film industries.



Surely, the EFTE film not only can be applied in the construction and the agriculture, but also can be used as the windproof film on the auto glass, the antifouling exterior and interior packing material, or applied to the battery, adhesive container, conveyor in the food industry, solar receiver, circuit board for flexible printing, computer cable, medical packing film, etc. What’s more, the specification can be custom according to customers’ requirements.
