The airplane optical fiber connector is an optical fiber microconnector suitable for burying into composites. The connector is divided into two parts: the buried socket and the exterior connector. The buried socket is only 4mm long with gratings connected to its end. The socket can be buried into small composite products and be attached to the exterior connector through a thread locking process. There is no need for second slicing to connect the grating sensor inside the composites and the demodulator, thus improving the monitoring accuracy of composite stress, strain and internal damage after low speed impacts.
