Optical fiber drawing line Optical fiber drawing

Our Class 100,000 clean room features the most advanced optical fiber drawing technique used in the industry, allowing 1 tower to draw 4 optical fibers at a time. Currently we have 2 draw towers which can produce 8 optical fibers simultaneously. Traditional techniques only allow1 tower to draw 2 optical fibers at the same time, but our new method not only saves space and improves productivity, but also greatly lowers production costs without sacrificing product quality.

High temperature melting furnace

This is a high temperature melting furnace controlled by computers and capable of melting 4 optical fibers at a time. Here, we melt the optical fiber preforms at high temperatures and draw the fibers. One single run through can continuously produce optical fibers up to 8,000 km.

Holding furnace
The fibers drawn preforms through high-speed optical fiber draw towers and then enter into the holding furnace. The white vertical equipment beside the holding furnace is an ISO Class 5 blower, which is used to clean optical fiber tunnels. The cleaning effect makes sure there are less than 3,500 0.5μm particles/m³.

Cooling zone
Optical fibers go through the cooling tube, achieving forced cooling of the surface temperature, from 900℃ to 50℃.

Coating and curing system
We employ German molds and U.S. Fusion curing ovens. Optical fibers go through wet-on-wet coating molds, coating 2 layers of resin. Then the curing oven below cures the resin on the surface of the optical fibers.

Wire winding zone

After curing, optical fibers are winded by wire winding machines. The winding speed can reach up to 2,700m/min, and the coil can be changed automatically at high speed, ensuring the continuous production of optical fibers.

Testing unit and cable pulling winch machine

The testing unit includes a coated optical fiber diameter measurement device and coating defects detector, measuring the diameters of coated fibers and detecting coating defects.

Sampling and examining through microscope

Employees examine surface defects and breakpoints of optical fibers through a microscope.

Proof test zone

There are 12 high-speed proof test and rewinding machines in proof test zone, through which large coils of drawn optical fibers are rewound into smaller coils by 9.28N tension for the convenience of the customer.

Staining procedures
We adopt 13 staining machines, capable of staining the raw optical fibers with 12 colors.

One machine with 2 staining lines
This equipment can run 2 product lines at a time, one above and one below, capable of staining with 2 colors simultaneously.

Secondary coating line
There are 9 production lines in this workshop. The technique is extruding optical fibers softly so as to protect the performance of optical fibers. The secondary coating line consists of pay-off equipment, extruding machines, cooling water tanks and wire winding machines.

Cabling line
There are 10 cabling lines mainly stranding multiple tubes into cables. The cabling lines consist of steel wire pay-off equipment, tube pay-off equipment, cable stranding machines, cable pulling winch machines and wire winding machines.

Sheath production line
This is the workshop for optical cable end-product production, making protective sheaths for optical fibers.
