A forged figure 8 spectacle blind (also known as a spectacle flange) is comprised of 2 metal discs attached in the middle with a small piece of steel, giving it the appearance of a pair of spectacles or glasses. One end of the spectacle flange is solid, while the other has a hole in the middle. Spectacle blind flanges are used in piping systems that require regular separation and situations where the flow through the pipe system repeatedly stops. This flange can be spun in place to either the solid or the hollow end within the pipe system to open and close the flow based on application needs.
