Characteristics and Applications
Potassium 3-(phenylsulfonyl) benzenesulfonate is a non-halogen flame retardant for polycarbonate compounds. It is ideal to be applied in translucent or opaque polycarbonate formulations with 0.2-1.0% adding level to reach UL94 V0. Owing to low dosage, this range of sulphonated flame retardant causes almost no damage to the physical properties of goods. However, it needs to be dispersed uniformly, or else it will not offer an obvious effect.

Although potassium 3-(phenylsulfonyl) benzenesulfonate is mainly used as the flame retardant for PC, it can also be used for other materials such as PC and ABS by using combination with other types of flame retardant. It can effectively improve the heat distortion temperature of alloys, as well as other physical properties.

Precautions
1. Potassium 3-(phenylsulfonyl) benzenesulfonate should be sealed for storage, and it is apt to deliquescence. If the deliquescence occurs, this product ought to be heated at 110℃ for 3-4 hours to make sure that the water content can be below 0.5%. Otherwise, the quality of flame-retarding PC will be affected.

2. Diversified dispersing agent can be added into potassium 3-(phenylsulfonyl) benzenesulfonate when in use, such as PETS, or other types of dispersing agent with high heat resistance. Then, both dispersion and flame retardant performance can be made better.
