Melamine Polyphosphate, MPP

Brief Description
Melamine Polyphosphate (MPP)
Equivalent Brand Ciba Melapur 200, SLFR-7, Einecs 243-601-5
Molecular Formula C3H6N6·H3O4P
Molecular Weight 224.11
CAS No. 20208-95-1

Striking Advantages
Melamine polyphosphate can be abbreviated to MPP. It is a halogen free fire retardant which contains nitrogen and phosphorus. Its highlighted strengths incorporate great thermal stability, no moisture absorption, a little smokiness, as well as low insolubility in water. Thus, this melamine derivative can offer a wide range of applications.

Product Features
1. Due to the nitrogen-phosphorus synergism, the melamine polyphosphate pertains to eco-friendly flame retardant.

2. This product requires a higher decomposition temperature than melamine phosphate, so it will not affect the surface smoothness of base material.

3. Additionally, MPP is provided with distinguished weather resistance. Without any bromine content, this melamine compound will not become yellow, and can offer superior anti-ultraviolet performance.

4. Melamine polyphosphate is white, crystalline powder. It possesses outstanding pigmenting property, nice dispersing property, as well as low moisture absorption.

5. MPP can be added into fireproof coating at will, but not obviously increase the viscosity of coating.

Product Applications
1. As a nitrogen-phosphorus based halogen-free flame retardant, the melamine polyphosphate can be either used alone as a fire retardant, or considered as the additive flame retardant.

2. It gives wide applications in various types of thermoplastics, polyolefins, synthetic rubber, engineering resins, flameproof coatings, paper, fireproof plates, and other materials.

3. Due to its wonderful fire-resistant performance, MPP can partly replace the ammonium polyphosphate (APP). It can be not only used alone in the glass fiber reinforced flame retardant PA66/6 or PP, but also in combination with pentaerythritol to be applied in polyolefins, glass fiber reinforced flame retardant PA6/PA66, and SMC (unsaturated resin). Additionally, it can be also used together with ammonium polyphosphate.

4. Compared with the traditional halogen-based flame retardant, melamine polyphosphate prominently features strong fire resistance, low smoke density, low toxicity, and low corrosion. It can entirely meet the need for environmental protection.
