Amikacin Sulfate

Properties
Amikacin Sulfate is often used in the form of its sulfate salt. It is a white or off-white crystalline powder that has almost no odor. This organic compound is very soluble in water, but nearly insoluble in methanol, acetone or chloroform.


Applications
1. This product pertains to an anti-infectious agent. It is used to treat different types of bacterial infections such as the urinary tract, septicemia, skin, bone, joint, pneumonia, and the lower respiratory, etc.
2. Its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of gentamicin. The product is highly resistant to Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella, Acinetobacter,Citrobacter, and the Indole-positive and Indole-negative Proteus mirabilis. It can also resist some kinds of Enterobacter and Serratia bacteria, as well as the Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Atypical mycobacteria, and the Staphylococcus aureus.
3. Other substances that are insensitive to this product include the virus, fungus, rickettsia, anaerobes, and the Gram-positive cocci such as Streptococcus faecalis.
4. Amikacin Sulfate gives strong resistance to enzymes. After microorganisms guard against the other aminoglycosides, they are still sensitive to this product.
