The JW11 series 3-roll plate bending machine is extensively applied for use in shipbuilding industry to serve as ship plate bending machine. It has a symmetrical structure for the 3 rolls, and the top roll moves vertically in the direction that is perpendicular to the center line of 2 lower rolls.
It is a symmetrical hydraulic plate bending machine. The power required for roll forming is generated by the hydraulic oil in the hydraulic cylinder with the help of piston rod. The two lower rolls are designed to execute rotating motion and provide torque for bending treatment through hydraulic motor.
The hydraulic plate rolling machine is designed with several groups of support rolls under lower rolls to enhance the rigidity of lower roll, and these rolls are adjustable in vertical direction. A rigid beam is set on the top of top roll, and many groups of support rolls are arranged between top roll and the beam, reinforcing the rigidity of top roll. Based on these, this roll bending machine fits for the roll forming of ultra wide arc-shaped metal plate.

The key components for this ship plate bending machine include side rack, top roll assembly, lower roll assembly, lower support roll assembly, main transmission, base, plate aligning device, hydraulic system as well as electrical control system.
1. Side Rack
The unit is steel welded with good bending resistant performance.
2. Top Roll Assembly
This part mainly consists of main oil cylinder, beam, bearing seat, top roll and upper support rolls. The two main oil cylinders offer pressure for working process, and the working pressure for oil cylinder is 19.5MPa. The beam is welded by steel plate, and the flexural rigidity is very high. Under the beam, there are 7 groups of upper support rolls to protect top roll from large deflection under load. In addition, the 3-roll plate bending machine adopts the double row self-aligning bearing to reduce friction. Displacement sensors are installed on the top of bearing seat and side rack to detect the position of the top roll, and the data are revealed on the digital readout automatically.
3. Lower Roll Assembly
The lower roll assembly for the metalworking tool is made up of several components including lower roll, gear and bearing seat for lower roll, etc. These two lower rolls are both drive roll, and the gear is used to transmit torque needed for machining. Just the same as top roll assembly, there are also 7 groups of support rolls under these lower rolls to avoid large deflection.
4. Lower Support Roll Assembly
The lower support roll assembly for our plate bending machine is comprised of lower support roll, bearing seat, wedge block and others. The raise and descent of lower support rolls are executed according to desired pressure, and the regulating value is indicated by the scale.
5. Plate Aligning Device
During bending process, the ship plate may be not correctly placed, and misalignment occurs. This device is especially applied to avoid such problems, and it is composed of two oil cylinders as well as baffle plate. It is controlled by buttons, and the remaining stroke of oil cylinder is zero when the baffle plate is vertically or horizontally placed.
6. Main Transmission
This part contains V-belt of main motor, belt pulley, reducer, gear, brake and others. It realizes both positive and negative rotations, offering torque for working stage.
7. Base
The three roll plate bending machine comes with a welded steel base which ensures easy installation and good rigidity.
8. Hydraulic System
The hydraulic system is formed by gear pump, valve group and auxiliary pipelines. The hydraulic valve is superposition valve supplied by Yuci Yuken Hydraulics, and the simple pipeline brings great convenience for maintenance. This system has two loops, pressure regulating loop and synchronous loop. The pressure regulating loop is designed to adjust the working pressure of the system with the help of main overflow valve, and the working pressure is 19.5MPa. When it comes to synchronous loop, it uses flow divider valve and throttle valve to realize the preliminary synchronization for raise and descent of top roll, and the positioning accuracy of top roll is ±0.15mm.
9. Electrical Control System
The sheet metal forming equipment has an electrical control system that consists of electrical cabinet, operating console, and handheld button box. The power supply is 380V/50Hz, while the main switch has overload protection and short circuit protection. The positive rotation and negative rotation of motor are controlled by AC contactor, and PLC is the core part of this system, while the touch screen makes numerical control come true.
The PLC is able to execute different actions, such as vertical movement of top roll, rotation of lower rolls, and more. The input module detects control signal, and the output module is controlled by the program to realize different actions of solenoid valves and contactors. Thanks to the flexible program of PLC, the 3-roll plate bending machine is able to realized synchronous movements of top rolls, and the precision is ±0.15mm.
The displacement sensor is used to detect the motion of top roll, and this programmable touch screen will show corresponding values with the help of LCD. Meanwhile, there are touch buttons on the screen to realize various actions.
