The U-channel has the U-shaped cross section. It is also divided into the ordinary type and light duty type like the I beam. The model and specification of the product are also expressed by web height (h) × flange width (b) × web thickness (d). For instance, the 120×53×5 product is fabricated with the web height of 120mm. In general, we mark the product by using the centimeter value of its web height, such as 12# for the previous example.

A. Hot Rolled Ordinary Type
The hot rolled ordinary U-channel often matches with the I beam. It can be used for construction structure, automotive manufacturing, and other industrial structure.

B. Hot Rolled Light Duty Type
The hot rolled light duty type product has wide flange and small thickness in web and flange. It can attain better economical effect than the ordinary type product. The light duty product basically serves for construction structure, steel frame structure, etc. Its specification range is 5# to 40#. The 1966 metallurgical industry standard prescribed the specification range of 10# to 40#.

The specification range for the steel channel is 5# to 40#. The relevant information such as classification and mark is compliant with the standard of GB2101-80. The product is generally divided into two categories which are large type with the web height greater than 180mm and medium type with the web height less than 180mm.
