Rebar, Deformed Steel Bar

Introduction
The deformed steel bar, referring to the hot rolled ribbed bar, belongs to the small section steel type. It is the straight or coil-shaped deformed bar used as the reinforcement of reinforced concrete. The product has rib on its surface, generally coming with two longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs distributed evenly along the length. The shape of the transverse rib has the spiral type, herringbone type and crescent type.

Main Usage
Mainly for reinforcement, the product functions for enduring tensile stress in reinforced concrete. As a result of the surface rib, it can have rather large bonding capacity with the reinforced concrete to better withstand the external force. The product is the indispensable construction material to be widely applied in a variety of building structures, especially the large, heavy, light type thin wall and high-rise building structures.

Classification and Grade
The grade of the deformed steel bar (hot rolled ribbed bar) is composed of the HRB and the minimum yield point. The H, R, and B are the first letters of Hot rolled, Ribbed and Bars respectively. There are three grades of HRB335, HRB400 and HRB500 for the hot rolled ribbed bars. For example, the HRB335 refers to the hot rolled ribbed bar with the yield point no less than 335MPa.

Specification
We use the millimeter value of the nominal diameter (calculated diameter or the model number in old standard) to express the specification of the reinforced steel. The nominal diameter is not equal to inside diameter (base diameter) plus the height of transverse rib. It is equal to the diameter of the cycle having the same area with the nominal cross section.

In practice, we can get the nominal diameter of the deformed steel bar like this. As to the product with the diameter less than 30mm, the inside diameter is rounded to be the nominal diameter. For instance, the inside diameter of the rebar is 11.5mm, then the nominal diameter is 12mm. If the diameter of the product is larger than 30mm, the rounded inside diameter plus 1 is the nominal diameter. We take the product with the inside diameter of 38.7mm for example. Then the nominal diameter is 40mm (39 1=40). In the case of the inside diameter is an integer, the nominal diameter is the inside diameter plus 1. So, for example, the nominal diameter of the reinforced steel with the inside diameter of 31.0mm is 32mm.

The nominal diameter of the available reinforced steel in our company ranges from 8mm to 50mm. The recommended value is 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm and 40mm.

The rebar can be delivered in line with the actual weight and the theoretical weight. The deviation is listed in the following table.
