I Beam

The hot rolled I beam is also known as steel beam. It is the long strip-shaped steel product with I-shaped cross section. The dimension of the cross section is expressed by using web height (h) × web thickness (d) with the unit of millimeter. For example, the product with the web height of 160mm, flange width of 88mm and web thickness of 6mm is marked by 160×88×6mm.

The other way to mark the product is using the model, namely the centimeter value of the web height. Then, we can mark the product in the previous example as 16#. As to the products with same web height, different web thickness and flange width, we can add the letter a, b and c for example into the model to distinct them like 32a#, 32b#, 32c#, etc.

The hot rolled I beam is graded into the ordinary type and light duty type.
1. Ordinary Type
A. Main Use
The ordinary type product is extensively employed to sorts of construction structures, bridges, automobiles, supports, machinery, etc.
B. Manufacturer
We can supply the ordinary type product manufactured by Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation, Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation, Baotou Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation, Pangang Group Company, etc.

2. Light Duty Type
In contrast with the ordinary type product with the same web height, the light duty hot rolled I beam has wider flange as well as thinner web and flange. It is actually the wide flange small thickness type. Under the condition of guaranteeing the bearing capacity, the light duty product has stronger stability than the ordinary type product. Plus the merit of saving metal material, it can get rather good economical effect.

Similar to the ordinary type product, the light duty product is primarily used for the large structural such as factory building and bridge as well as for the manufacturing of automobile, ship, etc.

Classification
The I beam is classified in terms of the specification. The product with the web height greater than 180mm is included in the large type class. The product with the web height less than 180mm belongs to the medium type class. Now, the commonly used specification range is 10# to 63#.
