The lithium polymer battery pack is a group of rechargeable LiPo batteries. The lithium polymer rechargeable battery uses organic solvent containing lithium salt electrolyte. The anode adopts lithium-rich layered transition metal oxide, and the cathode employs lithium-poor carbon material. The case is made with aluminum plastic composite film.

1. Good Safety Performance
The Li-polymer battery pack features aluminum plastic flexible package. Unlike liquid state cell with metal case that may explode, the Li-polymer cell only tends to be swelling when there is any safety hazard.

Under same capacity and specification conditions, the product is 40% lighter than lithium ion battery with steel case and 20% lighter than battery with aluminum case.
3. Thin
The common liquid state lithium ion battery is made by customizing case first and then putting the anode, cathode materials in the case. So, it is relatively thick, and the thickness is usually over 3.6mm. As its thickness could be less than 1mm, the product is gaining favor in the cell phone industry.
4. Tailor-made Shape
New model of cell can be developed according to customer thickness requirement. The moldmaking cycle is short, and the cost is low. In addition, customization based on the shape of cell phone is also possible, thus making full use of case space and improving battery capacity.
5. Large Capacity
The capacity of lithium polymer battery is 10-15% higher than that of steel case type product and 5-10% higher than that of aluminum case type product. Hence, the product is a preferred choice for color screen mobile phones and those supporting MMS.
6. Simple PCM Design
Due to the use of polymer material, the cell has no fire or explosion problem, providing good safety performance. Hence, PTC and fuse can be removed from PCM design, which helps reduce cost.
7. Great Discharge Performance
The product adopts colloidal electrolyte, which delivers more stable discharge performance and higher discharge plateau than liquid state electrolyte.
8. Low Internal Resistance
The lithium polymer cell provides lower internal resistance than liquid state cell. In fact, the internal resistance of domestic products could be kept below 35mΩ, which helps reduce the battery self discharge and extend the cell phone standby time. Supporting large discharge current, the LiPo battery is ideal for RC models. It becomes the most promising alternative to Ni-MH battery products.
