Composition
The straight shank twist drill bit is composed of three parts relating to different use function.
1. Shank. It is the part on the product for being clamped by the chuck or drill as well as for transferring the drilling power including torque and axial force.
2. Neck. It is the transition part between the body and shank, usually used as the clearance groove for grinding wheel retracting.
3. Body. It is the working part consisting of the cutting part (drill tip) and guide part.
Maintenance
1. When drilling the steel work piece, please ensure sufficient cooling. The cutting fluid should be employed during the drilling process.
2. Good drill rod rigidity and guide clearance can improve the accuracy of the hole and prolong the lifetime of the straight shank twist drill bit.
3. The magnetic base should be kept flat and clean with the work piece.
4. When drilling the thin plate, the work piece should be fixed tightly. When drilling large work piece, please make sure that the work piece is placed steadily.
5. At the beginning and end of drilling, the feed rate should be decreased by 1/3.
6. As to the large amount of fine powder material such as cast iron and cast copper, you can use the compressed air to discharge the swarf rather than use cooling liquid.
7. Please clear the scrap winding on the drill body timely to ensure smooth swarf discharge.
We also manufacture the multifork drill bit (MFD). The MFD is different from the normal drill head in many aspects.
1. Point angle. MFD has two or more angles, while the normal type has only one angle.
2. Cutting lip. The MFD has a curl cutting lip. But the cutting lip of the normal type is straight.
3. The chisel edge of the MFD is thin. So, the chisel edge length of the MFD is less than that of normal type by 60% to 90%.
4. Axial resistance. The axial resistance of normal type is two times larger than that of MFD.
5. The torque of MFD is 18% less than that of normal type.
6. The MFD can drill vertically in smooth steel plate without sliding to other place easily. However, the normal type would slide to other place easily.
7. When using the MFD to drill the material, the iron swarf is very fine and can be easily discharged. The swarf by using the normal type is long, big and curve. When the hole is deep, it is difficult to discharge.
Characteristics of MFD
1. The MFD has smaller axial resistance and torque than normal drill bit. On the basis of same rotation rate, the MFD can achieve bigger feed rate. It means that the MFD drills more quickly and has higher working efficiency.
2. By reason of smaller cutting resistance, less heat and discharging the iron swarf more easily, the cooling liquid can access to the cutting area more easily. The durability of the MFD can be increased largely.
3. The MFD has large feed rate. When drilling the stainless steel, it can avoid the chill hardening area easily. Thus, the lifetime of the MFD can be extended effectively. Usually, it is two to five times as longer as the lifetime of normal type.
4. On account of position accuracy, cylindricity, surface finish and surface burr, the MFD is much better than the normal type to get higher quality holes.
How to Use MFD Correctly
1. Choose appropriate feed rate.
2. The hardness of the work piece should be less than 40HRC.
