DD350 Electrolyzer

Brief Introduction
The DD350 electrolyzer is the first generation of zero gap electrolyzer that was invented at the beginning of 1990s, and it shows some advantageous features when compared with diaphragm cell, such as natural circulation, lower power consumption, lower dynamic consumption, higher production capacity, etc.

However, as the first generation zero gap product, it also suffers from some imperfect designs. For example, the conductive columns are used to conduct electricity, and this may lead to leakage at the columns and electrodes which will corrode the frame and conductive column. Thereby, the electric current is not evenly distributed, resulting in the damage to the membrane as well as the reduction of working efficiency. Aside from this, there are other problems. The end products can be affected easily, the ion-exchange membrane is likely to bubble into pinhole, the large cell area and small natural circulation flow lead to bad internal circulation of the electrolyzer, etc.

After receiving DD350 electrolyzer that is in a poor state, a series of detections are carried out first, and then we will figure out the most effective and economical plan to repair this product. When the refurbishment work is finished, an overall inspection is scheduled to ensure the processing quality. Finally, the repaired machine will be sent back to our client along with the quality inspection report. After maintenance, the cell voltage will be reduced by over 250mV under the same working condition.

Zero Gap Modification Case
The DD350 electrolyzer has 38 cells, and the cell voltage is 3.4V (3.3kA/m2, 32%NaOH). After the zero gap modification with Dupont 982 membrane, the cell voltage is dropped to 3.0V (3.3kA/m2, 32%NaOH, 83℃).
