The 8620 alloy steel is a kind of Cr-Ni-Mo case hardening steel. It has bettermechanical properties over the SCM415 alloy steel. Its surface hardness could be comparable to HRC60 alloy steel, afterbeing surface nitrided orcarburized. This material applies to make the alloy steel casting,hardware, lockset, and machinery part that are required to high hardness onsurface and good toughness in center. We can increasethe carbon content of the 8620 alloy steel to the range of 0.35 to 0.45 so asto get the 8640 Cr-Ni-Mo medium carbon steel.
