Square Steel Tube
Different with the traditional round hollow pipe, the square steel tube has square section with its four sides equal in length. It has many types in different sizes. Welded with electric resistance welding technology, the production speed is fast and the welding seam is not obvious. The corner part at the end of the product is designed with right angle or gentle arc, which can meet different needs of customers. The product has wide range application. It can be used separately in the fields of architectural building, furniture manufacturing, railway construction, etc. Meanwhile, it can also be used in conjunction with round steel pipe.
In traditional space structure building, welding the round section hollow pipes takes long time and is not an easy thing to achieve. So the square section pipe is applied to solve that problem. By aligned in perpendicular and parallel to the plane the frame body, the cross points of the two tubes are joined with short welding seam easily through butt welding.
Generally, there are two methods to produce the square steel tube, which are stated as follows.
1. Electric Resistance Welding Process
Through a progressive set of roll, the strip steel is formed continuously to produce the round hollow pipe along its longitudinal axis. Then by taking the electric resistance welding mode, the two edges of the rolled strip steel are heated and welded by high frequency induction or contact welding to form a continuous longitudinal welding seam. After being cooled, the round hollow pipe is rolled to the square section hollow pipe.
2. Form-square Weld-square Process
The forming die of driven roller shapes the strip steel by forming the top two corners in the first forming stage. Then the bottom two corners are formed in the following stage. When the square shape and size is formed close to the production standard, the processed strip steel is welded by high frequency contact. Then the pipe is cooled and processed further to achieve dimension improvement. Then, the hollow steel pipe with square section is produced to be the needed product.
