A socketsteel pipe flange is a kind of flange with one end welded to the pipe and theother end linked with a screw connection. Thissocket welding flange is a popular type of pipe flange, initiallydeveloped to use on small-sized and high-pressure piping. Thefabrication of this type of flange is similar that the used for a slip-on steel pipe flange.However, the internal pocket of a socket steel pipe flange allows fora smooth bore and better fluid flow. When provided with an internal weld, thestatic strength of this flange is equal to the slip-on flange, but the fatiguestrength is 50% greater than the double welding slip-on flanges.
