A reducing pipe section is used to connect two pipesof different diameters. It is also used in small diameter pipes to improve theliquid flowing. There is a concentric and an eccentric reducing pipe section.Usually, a concentric reducing pipe section is used to connect two verticalpipes when axes are on the same line. The eccentric reducing pipe section isused to connect horizontal pipes.

A reducingpipe section end with straight line is made of hollow cross-section seamless steelwith high bending strength, excellent torsion property and light weight. Theother end without straight line is made of steel plate that is cheaper. Themost common reducing pipe section has threads on it, including both end thread, single end thread and flat end thread. Some reducing pipesections are connected by means of flange connection.
