Working Theory of the Drum Magnetic Separator
The drum magnetic separator is used for wet mineral separation of suchmaterials as magnetite, pyrrhotite, etc. The mineralslurry flows into the cell through the box feeder and the mineral particle isloose under the function of water flow of feeder water pipe when they flow intothe cell. Affected by the magnetic field, the magnetic particles swarm togetherand form a magnetic cluster or chain. With the magnetism of mineral slurry, themagnetic cluster or chain moves toward the magnetic pole and is absorbed to thecylinder.

Because of the polarity of the magnetic pole, the revolving directionsalternate constantly and remain fixed when it is working. When the magneticcluster and chain go round and round along with the cylinder, and the mingledgangue and other non-magnetic ore fall down due to the mixing phenomenaproduced by the alternation of magnetic poles, it is concentrate that isabsorbed to the cylinder surface. The concentrate moves to the end of magneticsystem where the magnetism is weakest along with the revolving cylinder and isdischarged into concentrate tank by the current ejected by the discharging-orepipe. The non-magnetic or weak magnetic remaining is discharged along with themineral slurry, and they are gangue.
