Physicochemicalproperties: The calcium hypochlorite (calcium process) is a white or light graysolid which is available in different forms, such as granular, powder, amixture of granular and powder, as well as tablets. It has a strong smell ofchlorine and relatively low toxicity. It is also corrosive, and easily solublein water. This chemical is a strong oxidant and combustible material.

Applications

1. The calcium hypochlorite (calcium process) isused for the bleaching of wood pulp, silk, cloth and fiber.

2. It is used for disinfection, sterilizationand water treatment.

3. It is also used as a disinfectant for toxicchemical agents and radioactive substances.

Usage

1. Mixing 100 kilograms of 65% calciumhypochlorite (calcium process) into a ton of water results in a bleachingliquid with a density of 6.5% available chlorine.

2. A 1% disinfectant liquid can be made byadding 1.7 grams of calcium hypochlorite (calcium process) to a ton of water.

Cautions in application

1. The calcium hypochlorite (calcium process)should be stored in a place with good ventilation, and kept away from heatsources and direct sunlight.

2. During transportation, there should be noexposure to sunlight, heat or moisture, as well as no contact withorganics, oils and acids.

3. If the calcium hypochlorite (calcium process) is leaked, please collect it in time and re-sealit properly.

4. Wash with diluted ammonia water in case ofskin burning.

Fire extinguishing methods

A sand, carbon dioxide and foam extinguisher canbe used, but the general sulfuric acid extinguisher should never be used.
