Physicochemical properties: The calcium hypochlorite(sodium process) comes in a white or light gray granular solid. It has a strongsmell of chlorine and relatively low toxicity. It is also corrosive, and easilysoluble in water. This chemical is a strong oxidant and combustible material.

Applications

1. The calcium hypochlorite (sodium process) is usedfor the bleaching of wood pulp, silk, cloth and fiber.

Usage

1. Mixing 100 kilograms of 65% calcium hypochlorite(sodium process) into a ton of water results in a bleaching liquid with adensity of 6.5% available chlorine.

2. 1% disinfectant liquid can be made by adding 1.7grams of calcium hypochlorite (sodium process) to a ton of water.

Storage

The calciumhypochlorite (sodium process) should be stored in dry, cool and ventilatedwarehouse, and contact with fire and heat sources like direct sunlight shouldbe avoided. It cannot coexist with organics, acids and reducing agents.

Fire extinguishing methods

The sand, carbon dioxide and foam extinguisher canbe used, but the general sulfuric acid extinguisher should not be used.
