Physicochemical properties: The bleaching powderis a white or light gray solid and is available in different forms, such as granulated,powdered, a mixture of granulated and powdered. It has a strongsmell of chlorine and a relatively low toxicity. It is also corrosive, andeasily soluble in water. This chemical is a strong oxidant and combustiblematerial.

Applications

The bleaching powder is mainly used for watertreatment, including the bleaching and disinfection of water, as well as thebiochemical treatment of polluted water, and similar applications.

Cautions in application

1. The bleaching powder should be stored in aplace with good ventilation, and kept away from heat sources and directsunlight.

2. During transportation, it should not be exposedto direct sunlight, heat or moisture, and should avoid contact with organics,oils and acids.

3. If the bleaching powder is leaked, please collect it in time and re-seal itproperly.

4. Wash with diluted ammonia water in case ofskin contact.

Fire extinguishing methods

The sand, carbon dioxide and foam extinguisher canbe used. However,the general sulfuric acid extinguisher should never be used.
