The guiro is a woodenpercussion instrument with unique shape. It is played by holding the guiro inthe one hand with the thumb inserted into the back sound hole to keep theinstrument in place. The other hand usually rubs a stick along the notches toproduce a frog-like sound. It can also produce rhythmical sound by usinga stick to strike the front part of the guiro.
