Optical Prism

Alaud engineers a variety of high precision opticalprism including a right angle prism, penta prism, dove prism, roof prism, andsolar rod prism. Each prism’s geometric construction is designed to achieve thereflective abilities to suit our costumer’s specific imaging need. Alaud’sreflecting prisms have the ability to invert, rotate, deviate or displace abeam. Our right angle optical prism is precision polished to accommodatedemanding applications. Alaud optical prisms are fused in silica, and areavailable in either BK7or UV grade fused silica. Our fused silica prism is manufactured to exactingspecifications and are useful from 185 nm–2.1 μm. The BK7 prism is recommendedfor general laboratory use in the visible and near IR spectrum. The silicaprism is recommended for more sensitive applications such as UV, infrared orthermal use. Our right angle prism may be used at 90° reflector or as a 180°retro-reflector using Total internal reflection (TIR) technology. With theexception of reflection loss due to entry and exit faces, TIR exhibits 100%reflectivity over a vast wavelength range.

Penta Prism

The penta prism is a five-sided optical prism withtwo reflecting surfaces angled at 45° to each other, and two refracting facesperpendicular to entering emerging beams. The deviation angle of 90°is thusindependent of the orientation of the prism, making it especially important inuse, where the prism orientation can not be precisely controlled. We can supplyvarious penta prisms with different dimension and wave range according tocustomers' requirements.

Dove Prism

Dove prisms are generally used in image rotatorapplications. As the prism rotates, the passing image rotates at twice theangular rate of the prism. The dove prism also has retro-reflectorcapabilities. Dove prisms are able to invert and image by 180 degrees. Thistype of optical prism provides the most precise method of rotating a beam, andit features an extended length and easy cylindrical sleeve mounting.
