Plain particle board is an engineered wood product manufactured from lignocellulose, wood particles,waste lumbers, saw dusts or agricultural wastes like bagasse. The slurry of wood particles and adhesive is compressed under high temperaturethrough an extrusion machine to form the plain particle board. It has superbsound absorption, sound insulation and heat insulation. The wood particles arearranged in an irregular and cross-stacked structure so that it owns a highdegree of homogeneity and bearing strength. The surface of particle board isflat and even, so it has a pleasing outlook and can be painted or veneeredeasily. The adhesive used in particle board is relatively less, whichcontributes to its green feature. Particle board is widely used infurniture and construction.

The plain particle board may be further classified intodifferent categories. By manufacturing method it can be divided intoflat-platen-pressed particle board and extruded particle board.In the production of flat-platen-pressed particle board, the pressure isperpendicular to the board plane and the particles are arranged parallel to theboard, while in the production of extruded particle board, thepressure is parallel to the board plane. Flat-platen-pressed particleboard can be further divided by its structure into single layer,three-layer, and graded particle board. Extruded particleboard can be further classified by structure into solid board and tubularhollow board. Flat-platen-pressed particle board is usually divided intofirst and second grade according to its dimensional deviation and appearancequality. Extruded particle board is not graded. Bysurface situation, plain particle board is divided into pressed particle board,whose surface is not further processed after the hot press forming, and sandingor polish particle board, whose surface is sanded or polished. By its shape plainparticle board is divided into flat particle board, which ispressed into the product by flat plates, and molded particle board,which is pressed into the product by mold.
