Introduction of auto suspension idler arm

The Idler Arm, also known as idler arm assembly, is a pivoting support for thesteering linkage in an automobile with conventional parallelogram steering.
Generally speaking, it consists of a rod which pivots on a bracket attached tothe frame of the vehicle on one end and supports a ball joint on the other end.An idler arm is attached between the opposite side of the center link from thePitman arm and the vehicle's frame to hold the center link at the properheight.

Structure of IdlerArm
The idler arm assists the pitman arm by supporting the steering linkage as itmoves in the direction controlled by the steering gear. There are a fewvehicles use two idler arms. And as for its structure, it consists:
• A bracket, an arm that connects the bracket to the center link of thesteering linkage
• An internal pivot bearing

Application ofIdler Arm:
The idler arm is used on vehicles with conventional suspension systems andparallelogram steering, which are virtually used on all rear-wheel-drivevehicles and many light trucks.
