Tapered Roller Bearings

The tapered roller bearing consists of an outer ring, an inner ring, a tapered roller interposed between the outer ring and the inner ring, and a cage holding the tapered roller. It is used primarily to bear radial loads combined with certain amount of axial loads. It has a large axial load capacity as is determined by the contact angle, i.e. the outer ring raceway angle. The axial load capacity increases with the outer ring raceway angle. Also, the radial and axial clearance can be adjusted during the installation and application. Pre-interference installation is also available.
