1. Thetinted float glass is produced by adding small quantities of metal oxides tothe float process so as to color the normal clear glass mix. This coloration isachieved through adding the metal oxides at the smelting stage.
2. Addition of color does not affect the basic properties of the glass, eventhough visible light reflectance will be slightly higher than clear glass. Thecolor density increases with thickness, whereas the visible transmittancedecreases correspondingly as thickness increases.
3. Tinted float glass reduces solar transmittance by absorbing a largeproportion of the solar energy.

7. The tinted float glassis distortion-free, precision flat and transparent glass. It is manufactured byfloating a ribbon of molten glass over a bath of molten metal. The ribbon isgradually cooled in an annealing lehr,and then washed and cut into the desired sizes.

The tinted float glass is energy saving through good heat absorption whichreduces the transmission of solar heat radiation.
