The upsetting thread coupler is suitable for the connection of HRB335 and HRB400 ribbed steel bars with the diameter of 16-40 mm in the construction field. This rebar coupler can be prefabricated and it is easy to operate. Also, using this coupler to connect steel bars does not use electricity, so it is free from the impact of climate and all-weather construction can be achieved.
The upsetting thread coupler is tested by the National Center for Quality Supervision and Test of Building Engineering to reach Class I according to JGJ107-2010, Technical Specification for Rebar Mechanical Splicing, i.e., the tensile strength of splice is 110% of that of the rebars connected.
This reinforcing bar coupler is available in three types, including standard type, positive and negative threads type and reducing type, and 52 varieties. It is thus able to connect rebars with identical or different diameter as well as adjustable length and direction in the construction of bridge, tunnel, subway, power station, and other structures.

Straight Thread Connection
For the connection of steel bars by using straight thread coupler, an upsetting machine is firstly used to process the ends of the reinforcing bars to be connected. Then, use a straight thread rolling machine to make threads on the upset rebar ends. After that, use the straight thread coupler, which has internal straight threads, to connect the two rebars.
Via cold extrusion, the rebar end has its diameter greater than that of the other part of the rebar. This ensures that the tensile strength of splice is higher than that of the rebar, thus achieving tight connection.
