We have started the research on slewing ring bearings for tunnel boring machines since 2007. By using finite element analysis technology and carefully selected materials, and through optimized retainer structure design, improved heat treatment, precision machining of key components, clearance parameter optimization, assembly testing, etc., we have successfully developed a complete range of high quality slewing bearing for tunnel boring machines.

1. Optimized structure
Through analysis on the performance and reliability of TBM main bearings, we have a deep understanding on the bearing load distribution and contact stress characteristics. Based on this, we have successfully optimized the structure design of our range of tunnel boring machine bearing.
2. Improved heat treatment
Synchronous hardening for the three rows of raceways ensures uniform hardening depth and hardness as well. In order to further improve reliability, the soft zone for our range of the slewing ring bearing is designed to bear the minimum level of stress.
3. Optimized bearing retainer
Our product adopts the aluminum bronze cage with oil film guided wedge angle. Then the friction surface can form enough oil film to keep the cage with low friction and high abrasive resistance, as well as long service life of the tunnel boring machine bearing. We also design and make the logarithmic curve rolling element with well distributed load so that the load capacity of the rolling element bearing will be increased.
4. Complete range of tests
In addition, we establish the testing platform for our tunnel boring machine bearing and put forward the simulative testing method to estimate the rotary performance and reliability. With the testing machine, the slewing ring bearings for tunnel boring machines can be imposed with certain amount of radial and axial eccentric forces, as well as overturning moment. Due to the combination of the performance and strenuous tests with numerical simulation method, the dependability and life span of the product can be estimated.
