Membrane Horn Switch

A membrane horn switch, also known as horn pad, is new type of car horn membrane switch that fits in a narrow space under the steering wheel casing, on top of the air bag assembly. It serves to drive the horn relay, thereby blaring the horn.

The membrane horn switch consists of two conductive pads. Each pad is made by screen-printing silver inks onto the insulating material. The two pads are welded together to form a one-piece part. As a matter of fact, the two layers are separated by a few micro-inches by hundreds of tiny plastic bumps that are evenly distributed on one pad. The tiny bumps are 3mm long and 3mm wide. Depressing the bumps requires a force between 3N and 4N

Primary benefits of our soft horn pad include easy installation and maximum safety. Flexible but sturdy, our membrane horn switch would keep its intactness even when the air bag explodes in the middle of car accident. Damp-proof and dust-tight, this horn pad is able withstand 0.3 to 0.4 million depresses. Its flexible circuit is more resistant to impact.

In addition, this horn pad has extremely low failure rate up to 0.02%. With an operating current of 300mA, this switch would work ideally with OMRON horn relay. Aside from its outstanding performance, the flexible membrane horn pad is cheaper compared with copper switch. It is a much preferred choice by many well-known automobile manufacturers.
