Installed in the branch attached to main pipeline, the carbon steel 90 degree short radius elbow is used to connect two pipes of either different or same nominal diameter, and to change the pipe direction at 90 degree angle.
There are different ways of connection methods between the elbow and pipes, including flange connection, threaded connection, spigot and socket, as well as the widely used direct welding connection. In the terms of manufacturing technique, the 90 degree short radius pipe elbow has welded, punched and forged variants.
