Cold Rolled Steel Plates

Brief Introduction
The cold rolled steel plates are manufactured from the hot rolled sheet through cold press working. For going through several times of cold rolling, it has superior surface quality to the hot rolled sheet. After the heat treatment, the product is endowed with excellent mechanical property.

Classification
According to the different needs of manufacturers, we often classify the product into the type for general use, the drawing type, deep drawing type, special deep drawing type and extra deep drawing type. The product is delivered in coil form and plate form. Its thickness is measured with millimeter value. The width is 1000mm and 1250mm. And the length is 2000mm and 2500mm.

Grade
The commonly used grades for the cold rolled steel plate contain Q195, Q215, Q235, 08AL, SPCC, SPCD, SPCE, SPCEN, ST12, ST13, ST14, ST15, ST16, DC01, DC03, DC04, DC05, DC06, etc. The ST12 demonstrates the most common cold rolled steel which has the similar material quality to 08AL, SPCD and DC03/04. The ST13/14 shows the drawing type steel which has the similar steel to the 08AL, SPCD and DC03/04. The ST15/16 is also the drawing type steel having the similar material quality to the 08AL, SPCE, SPCEN and DC05/06.

Representation of the Grade and Dimension
We take the ST12, 1×1250×2500/C for example. This string of symbols means the ordinary cold rolled steel sheet with the grade of ST12, thickness of 1mm, width of 1250mm and length of 2500mm or in coil form. This sort of cold rolled steel sheet has the average level mechanical property with fine package of galvanized iron sheet. Only suitable for bending forming rather than the drawing, it is used for mechanical lock forming such as the outer shell of refrigerator, vehicle fuel tank, etc.

The cold rolled steel plate with the grade higher than ST13 is suitable for the industry needing deep drawing such as automobile manufacturing, fuel tank of diesel engine, etc. The drawing requirement determines the product grade.

The products with the grade of ST12 and SPCC have little difference in mechanical property. They have the different annealing mode. The ST12 product has stronger tensile property than the SPCC product.

Meaning of the Grade in Japanese JIS Standard
The SPCC is the representing method of Japanese JIS standard. It is the simplified form of Steel, Plate, Cold and Commercial. If the tensile strength is needed, add T at the end of the grade to be SPCCT. The SPCD means the cold rolled carbon steel sheet and strip for drawing. It is equivalent to the Chinese 08AL (13237) high-quality carbon structural steel. SPCE refers to the cold rolled carbon steel sheet and strip for deep drawing which is equivalent to the Chinese 08AL (5213) deep drawing steel. If there is the need for guaranteeing the non aging, the N is added to the end of the grade. That is the SPCEN.

The quenched and tempered code for the cold rolled carbon steel plate and strip is as follows. The A stands for annealing. The S means standard quenching and high temperature tempering. The 8, 4, 2 and 1 represent the 1/8 hardness, 1/4 hardness, 1/2 hardness and full hardness respectively. As to the surface processing code, D denotes the matt precision rolling and B signifies the glossy precision rolling. For example, the SPCC-SD denotes the common cold rolled carbon steel sheet with standard quenching and high temperature tempering as well as matt precision rolling. The SPCCT-SB comes to be the cold rolled carbon steel sheet requiring mechanical property with standard quenching and high temperature tempering as well as glossy precision rolling. The SPCC-1D is the hard matt precision rolled cold rolled carbon steel sheet.

Cold Rolled Steel Plates

The grade representation of the steel for mechanical structure is S plus the value indicating carbon content and the letter (C, CK). The value indicating carbon content is the median value of carbon content percentage times 10000. The letter C expresses carbon. The K means carburizing steel. For instance, the carbon structure steel coiled sheet S20C means this steel sheet contains the carbon with the percentage of 0.18% to 0.23%.

Meaning of the Chinese Standard Grade
The grade of the cold rolled steel plate includes Q195, Q215, Q235, Q275, etc. The Q indicates the yield point of the material. The number such as 195 is the value of the yield point. With regard to the chemical composition, the larger the grade is, the higher the carbon content and the magnesium content are. That means the ductility of the material is more stable.

Delivery Condition
The coil product is delivered in cold rolled annealed state.
