Reinforced Gabion

The reinforced gabion is actually a container made of wire fabric. Its interior is divided into uniform space. The size of the product is variable. During the practical use, the product is often connected with other similar containers to contain the stones at the site to form a flexible, permeable and monolithic structure for use as retaining wall, sea wall, channel lining, revetment and weir for earth retention.

The steel mesh of the product is generally the opening type 8×10 mesh. The diameter of the wire is 2.7mm or 3.0mm. The main two factors of the product are the shape of block and regular cube size. Made of hexagonal galvanized or PVC coated double twisted mild steel wire, the product filled with stones is transported by lifting straps.

As to the soil erosion which is an ever present problem, the reinforced gabion can be an effective solution for solving that problem. The use of the product can be traced back to the era of the Pharaoh for bank protection along the Nile River.
