This machine is a type of indirect rod extrusion press. There are some distinguished differences between direct and indirect extruder. In direct extrusion, the metal billet is placed in a container and driven through the die by the ram. When it comes to indirect extrusion, the hollow ram containing the die remains stationary and the container with the billet is caused to move.
