Reno Mattress
The reno mattress shapes like rectangular mat. It has several compartments inside which have equal dimension and are formed through the internal diaphragms. The product is galvanized and double twisted with the mesh opening of hexagonal shape. It is usually applied for channel lining, river training, soil retention, slope stabilization and other applications with the history of more than 100 years.

The reno mattress is endowed with advantages containing excellent flexibility, durability, permeability, strength, reliability, long lifespan, ecological protection, low cost and nice appearance. It is usually produced with the thickness from 0.15m to 0.5m. Similar to the gabion box, the product can adopt steel wire with thicker diameter to configure the mesh edge. 1. Flexibility. It is one of the most remarkable advantages of both individual unit and the whole of the reno mattress. The structure design decides that the product can accommodate the differential settlements without failure. That is particularly significant when the product faces unstable soil condition or is applied in the area where the scour of wave action or flood current may erode the foundation of the structure to cause structural settlement.

3. Strength. Due to the strength and flexibility, the reno mattress can stand against the forces generated by the action of water and earth. The decisive factors for the strength relevant to the design standard of the product include punching strength, tensile strength, pulling apart resistant strength as well as the corrosion resistance of the wire mesh. The specific value of the strength depends on the individual product specification and is described in the standard of ASTM A975-97.
4. Permeability. The product filled with stones can form the structure of draining freely. At the behind of the product structure, the hydrostatic head doesn’t exist. The drainage is accomplished through the action of gravity as well as the evaporation by reason of the porous structure forming the active air circulation. Meanwhile, the soil deposits in the interspaces among the stones, which is conducive to the growth of plant. Thus, the transpiration can promote moisture loss of the protected soil.
5. Low construction cost. The reno mattress is very economical. It can be constructed to put into use only with limited equipment, unskilled labor and minimum foundation preparation. There is no need for drainage provisions. The rockfill costs very low and can be supplied by the local stone or rock supplier. Only with little maintenance as well as being designed and built properly, the rock fill structure can be permanently effective.
