Ball Mill

The ball mill is commonplace in the ore dressing plant and cement factory. It serves to pulverize literally any granulated materials. Often used in conjunction with crushing equipment, the device provides users with large handling capacity, ease of operation, and maximum stability.


Various ores and other materials, either wet or dry, can be ground by this grinding machine. Depending on the ways of discharging materials, this grinder can take two forms: grate type and overfall type.


Usage
The ball mill is a key device for grinding crushed materials. It is widely used in the production line for powders such as cement, silicates, building materials, refractory material, fertilizer, and glass ceramics as well as for ore dressing of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.


Structure
Our grate-type ball mill consists of a cylindrical drum. Around the circumference of the drum is installed a girth gear that serves as the driven gear. This driven gear meshes with a small driving gear installed around the output shaft of the gearmotor. The rotational motion of the electric motor is transmitted to the girth gear via a gear reducer. The drum is divided into two grinding chambers.


Work Principle
Raw materials are uniformly supplied to the primary grinding chamber via the inlet. This motion is driven by helical gears with hollow shaft. Wedge-shaped or corrugated liner plates form the inner wall of the chamber and provide replaceable, wear-resistant grinding surface. Steel balls of different sizes are added to chamber, too. As the chamber rotates, the centrifugal force takes the steel balls up to a certain height level before they fall back down with large impact force on the materials to be ground. When this coarse grinding is completed, the material is taken to the secondary chamber via a partition diaphragm, or partition wall. The inner wall of secondary chamber is lined with smooth liner plates. Steel balls are available as well, to enable fine grinding. The resulting powder passes through the grate plate and is discharged from the drum.

Ball Mill

The ball mill is an integral part of grinding line. It reduces the particles to the required fineness. Millimeter-sized rocks, pulverized coal, and other extremely hard materials are common products resulting from this machine. Grinding often comes after crushing in ore dressing operation. Its main purpose is to grind ores and separate valuable mineral powder from wastes.
