The coal tar epoxy coated steel pipe is made by spraying the two-component room temperature curable coatings on the surface of a LSAW or SSAW pipe. The coal tar epoxy coating is prepared with coal tar pitch, modified epoxy resin, polyamide resin, pigments, fillers, and adhesives. It features strong adhesion as well as excellent resistance to water, chemical corrosion, and microbial attack.

Coating a steel pipe with coal tar epoxy belongs to a general level of anti-corrosion. For a strengthened grade of anticorrosion, the steel pipe can be wrapped with one layer of glass fiber fabric and coated with three layers of coal tar epoxy. For better anticorrosion effect, two layers of glass fiber fabric and four layers of coal tar epoxy coating can be adopted.
