5. Property
Light yellow or off-white powder or granule, slightly smelly, bitter, non-toxic, specific gravity of 1.42-1.52, melting point above 170 ℃; soluble in a dilute solution of ethyl acetate, acetone, sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate; soluble in ethanol, not easily soluble in benzene; insoluble in water and gasoline; stable in storage.
6. Use
As an accelerator for natural rubber and synthetic rubber, MBT is mainly used in the manufacture of tires, adhesive tapes, rubber shoes, and other industrial rubber products. It can be used separately or used in conjunction with dithiocarbamates, thiurams, guanidines, and other alkaline accelerators.
